Build a Minion Tim Deluxe

Build-a-Minion Tim Deluxe

As a highly devoted fan of the Despicable Me 2 movie, I am constantly on the lookout for the most innovative toys to hit the market depicting Gru, the girls, and of course the Minions. I have a particular soft spot for the Minions and have been known to go a little stir crazy as new ones become available. I think it must be something about the way the Minions are both mischievous and yet equally endearing in their devotion to Gru, the girls and to one another. I love giving different versions of the Minions to both children and adults alike, because everyone no matter what age they happen to be can do with a good dose of laughter. I have found that gifting the Minions to my friends who spend the majority of their days in an office and facing a computer makes me happiest because I have gotten to see them actually reach out and play with their Minion and become a lot less stressed during the workday. I have also had the children of friends complain that their parents ended up hoarding the Minions. I honestly believe that deep down all adults need to continue to nurture their inner child, and the Minions are here to help make sure that this happens.

My newest obsession in my own quest to find and collect all things Minion related, are the Despicable Me 2 Build-A-Minion toys and currently you have your choice of two awesome Minions to pick from. These figures stand on their own and the easiest way to describe them would be to imagine that Minions and Mr. Potato Head met and were combined to form a hybrid. The Minion yellow body is complete with overalls, but everything else is removable. You can take off the arms, the hands, and even the eyes or eye. Each Minion comes with his own trademark look.
Currently there are two Minions available to take apart and put back together:

  • Build-A-Minion Mr. Tim- Tim comes bearing a hazard coffee cup, a regular hat, a party hat, noisemaker and his proper tie.
  • Build-A-Minion Baby-Carl- Baby Carl has a bow, a pacifier, a rattle, and pacifier.

There’s something uniquely fun about being able to assemble your own Minion with different removable parts depending on what they are supposed to be up that day, which is probably some sort of mischief. The two action figures are polar opposites who turn into party animals. Mr., Tim shifts from someone who looks like they would be found working a desk job complete with hat and tie, into a complete party animal with party hat and noisemakers. Baby Carl on the other hand turns from being a baby with its pacifier and rattle into a baby, party animal.

The Minions are constant reminders of our own dual natures that we seek to balance out. We have our external side that we present to the world on a daily basis and then we have our other side that not everyone gets to see. The hidden side usually involves a lot more fun and risk taking adventures. I think a keeping the inner child alive inside each of us is crucial, for it is this adventurous spirit that keeps us eternally young and laughter is said to take years off our real age.
