Minions Take Over Monopoly and Operation

hasbro-logoHasbro, one of America’s most successful manufacturer’s of toys and board games has discovered how to take old favorite like Monopoly and Operation, and jazz them up with the Minions from the Despicable Me 2 movies. Yes, we have all played Monopoly against our family and friends, and have delved into the human bodies while playing Operation but now the Minions breathe new life into the games we loved, making that that much better.

So who are the Minions, you might ask yourself? If you have seen the Despicable Me 2 movies, there really is no need to introduce these yellow creatures measured in heaps of fun. If you have not seen it yet, I highly suggest you do, for no matter what age you are, the movies are sure to be entertaining, fun and thrilling. Now, that you have gone out and watched them (which would be the only natural thing to do since your interest has been piqued), of course you’re bound to want to experience both Monopoly and Operation from a Minion’s perspective.

Minion Monopoly

monopolySince Monopoly first started in 1935, people have played Monopoly and reveled in acquiring properties and slowly but surely building their own empires under which their opponents will fall. It takes patience, skill, and planning but eventually you start to see the benefits and have a lot of fun in the process of it. The longest Monopoly game to date has lasted 70 straight days! Adding the Minions to a game we already know and love makes it that much for interesting and fun.

The Monopoly Despicable Me 2 game brings back our favorite would-be villain Gru, and you get to play as one of the four Minions. In this game it’s the Minions against Gru on a fast track to collecting all of the Banana Bucks. There have actually been 50 Minions produced that you can buy separately to play with, but the original Monopoly Despicable Me 2 game come with four, and for the true collectors of mischievous fun, there will be 46 others to acquire.

Cons: It is a family/kids board game, so don’t expect too much of this game. Some people find the spinning minion irritating and slow, instead use a dice.
Pros: Lots and lots of fun for the kids! It’s a fun game that can be played quick, kids keep their enthusiasm for the entire game. Perfect for families who are into minions and love playing board games.

Minion Operation

minionoperation1Operation is another all time favorite game with kids and adults alike. Operation was invented in 1965 as a variation on an original electrified wire game usually played at funfairs. The object of the game is to successfully remove the ailments from the body without touching the surrounding sides. The patient was who been nicknamed Cavity Sam, requires surgery and it is up to each player to successfully remove made up and funny ailments of the body. If the player is successful in the removal they acquire money for their well-preformed task, but if they fail, and touch the wrong part with the tweezers meant for removal, the patient’s nose lights up and the player loses their turn. The winner is the person who has the most money after all the pieces have been removed from the patient.

The Despicable Me 2 Operation game gets a bit more intense because it is the life of none other than Stuart himself that must be saved. Stuart seems to be full of suffering from a toxic tongue, a nutty brain, and expanding with unicorn fluff. As one of the 50 minions available to help, you must do your best to help Stuart regain his normal composure. The game comes with four Minions to choose to play with, and 46 more are available for purchase. With steady hands and a determined Minion stance, you are sure to save your yellow partner in mischievous crime from certain anatomical pain.

Cons: Tiny pieces to collect which are difficult to pull out without a buzz. Missing chance qua “entertainment elements” like nose that lights up or funny sounds.
Pros: Lots and lots of fun for the kids! Kids are competitive and serious enough to have hours of fun with this board game. Who has the most steady hand? Guaranteed fun for the family!
